Early Years Blog 2025/26

This week in Drawing Club, we opened the doors to a magical world with our very first story –  The Witches’ Kitchen ! The children were captivated by the spooky, mysterious tale and were full of imagination and excitement as we explored the strange ingredients and bubbling potions hiding inside the kitchen. Using the story as our inspiration, we created some truly amazing drawings. The children used lots of new vocabulary like  slimy ,  twinkling , and  explosive  as they shared ideas and brought their pictures to life. It’s been a wonderful start to our Drawing Club journey, and we can’t wait to see where our imaginations take us next! ✨

 

This week, we’ve been busy exploring the new sounds  g ,  o ,  c , and  k  during our daily phonics lessons. The children have enjoyed getting to know each sound through songs, games, and hands-on activities that help bring phonics to life. We’ve also spotted our sounds during Adventure Time! There were   kings flying kites   in the setting — a fantastic way to reinforce the   k   sound in a playful and imaginative way. The children have loved using their creativity to spot and use these sounds in their play.   

 This morning we continued our work on making repeated patterns. We used fruit to make a kebab using a repeated pattern. We especially enjoyed eating our patterns after!

 This week in maths we have been looking at patterns and we have been making repeated patterns with objects from around the classroom.
