Phonics - learning our first sounds

This week in EYFS, we’ve been busy learning our very first four phonemes: s, a, t, and p! The children have taken part in lots of fun and engaging activities to help them recognise and use these sounds. We've been on exciting sound treasure hunts, searching for objects that begin with our focus letters, and got creative with crafts linked to each phoneme. The children have loved exploring the world of sounds through play, and it’s been a wonderful start to our phonics journey!

Reading Books

 Today your child should be bringing home a plastic folder with a 'reading book' in it. At the moment these books don't have words in them but are a chance for you to share the pictures, discuss what is happening and spot different objects. As we start to learn our sounds, we will introduce books with words in them.  In the folder there will also be the sounds we have looked at this week.
