Early Years Blog 2025/26

Today we started a new book for drawing club- Shark in the Dark. Following reading the book we had a go at drawing the main character, the shark and writing a magic code to make the shark do something. Today’s magic code was the word ‘job’, everyone did well at sounding out the word and forming the letters- well done! Shark in the Dark read aloud  

 

 This week in phonics we have learnt ‘sh’, ‘ch’, ‘th’ and ‘ng’. 

 We have been working hard on our letter formation, we are starting to see a real improvement. 

This week we have been looking at freezing and melting during our topic time, this has coincided perfectly with the very chilly weather we have had! We've been looking at how liquids turn into solids, We took small containers of coloured water with some objects inside and chose where we should put them so the water would freeze. In our adventure time we have enjoyed exploring ice, by trying to melt it or break it up.

 

 A huge welcome back to everyone following our winter break! We hope you had restful break and everyone is feeling refreshed for our Spring Term. All the staff in Early Years would like to say a huge thank you for the presents we received before Christmas- we especially liked seeing the Christmas cards written by the children and the notes of appreciation from you.
